Dehler 34 – Return of A Legend

Champions Choice Offer available now until Christmas. Save Aus$15,806/NZ$18,205 on equipment packages , gennaker and sail upgrade

The original Dehler 34 – the first ever genuine performance cruiser – was launched 30 years ago. Through a clever combination of sporting prowess and cruising comfort, the 34 quickly achieved cult status.

Now the Dehler 34 is back – still turning heads and setting new standards – in a ground breaking and distinctive way.

The new Dehler 34 is unmistakable – another striking design from Judel/Vrolijk impressing with sporty characteristics and confident styling. Whether you’re a casual cruiser demanding style and comfort or a keen racer seeking outstanding performance, the new Dehler 34 ticks all the boxes.

Well placed control lines, a German main sheeting system and self tailing winches make adjustment of everything quick and easy. You can easily race this boat with a small crew and be competitive with bigger boats.

"The New Dehler 34 is a masterpiece"

The new Dehler 34 is a luxurious performance cruiser blending innovative design with excellent sailing properties giving the perfect balance between comfort and performance.

Sporty, elegant lines follow the multi-award winning Dehler 38. Slim tapered side windows give a streamlined touch and a bright airy interior. A low and wide cockpit enhances the sporty look and offers plenty of space for relaxing and racing… and a steep stem combined with a short stern overhang creates a long waterline length and maximum speeds.

These sleek features are why Australasian sailors love Dehler yachts – speed, safety, practicality and beauty.

The Dehler Carbon Cage – standard whichever options you choose – improves rigidity of the mast base by 50% and makes the inner grid 25% stronger. The result? Improved upwind sailing performance thanks to better stability and reduced torsion allowing higher loads optimally distributed between the mast, hull and keel. This boat is fast light and strong.

With this perfect foundation for further upgrades, you can now customise your Dehler 34 to suit your precise needs.

Performance oriented sailors specify their Dehler 34 with a competition T-speed-keel, a deeper, thinner rudder and lighter HPM performance sails – all contributing to less weight and even more speed.

Choose between the standard tiller steering – perfect for fast manoeuvring during competitive racing – or optional Y spoke twin carbon wheels – designed for more relaxed cruising.

The standard version comes with a well balanced aluminium rig with a 65 sqm sail plan. Upgrade to a 73cm taller aluminium mast or weight saving carbon mast to support a 71 sqm sail plan and include the optional composite bow sprit and an asymmetrical headsail to take sailing performance and enjoyment to new levels.

Integrated plotter pods in the cockpit coamings place quality B&G Navigation instruments and autopilot controls within easy reach.

September 2017 - Dehler 34 Review - Boatsales.com.au

Thirty years ago a production yacht called the Dehler 34 blazed its way onto the world yachting scene winning races and proving to be a highly successful cruiser/racer. Now there is a new Dehler 34 promising to deliver just as much dash and race-winning potential for today’s racing sailor.

Review of the new Dehler 34

Scott Alle – editor at Ocean Media – is very taken by the new Dehler 34:

“It’s not surprising that much of the interest Team Windcraft is fielding is from experienced sailors who have done their homework & recognise the Dehler’s many seaworthy and practical attributes.

They know the 34 is equally capable of being a perfect weekend cruiser, strong regatta competitor or safe, fast trans-Tasman passage- maker.”

First Win of the Year goes to the 34

The Dehler 34 insails.com has just won the race at the winter regatta in Drimmelen

The proud owner and his crew are training for the 2018 World Championship in the Netherlands.

This boat is spec’d with the Aluminium race rig which is the same rig Ric has chosen for the 34 arriving in Australia in July ahead of the Sydney International Boat Show.

Dehler 34 Wins "Boat of the Year" 2017

The Dehler 34 has won her first award – Cruising World Magazine’s “Boat of the Year” 2017 in the “Best Performance Cruiser” category.  It’s a prestigious award from one of the world’s largest sailing magazines.

The head of the jury said,

“I think in terms of the category, we were trying to find a nice crossover between cruising accomodation and a boat that you can take sailing, it just hits the mark.”

Dehler 34 Award Nomination

Not even launched yet and already the new Dehler 34 is up for an award – nominated for the European Yacht of the Year in the “Performance Cruiser’ category. German Yacht magazine’s chief editor, Jochen Rieker said…

“She was able to convince the jury because she is very adaptable to the wishes of her owner – from sporty cruising yacht to a racing boat. In addition, the size of 34 feet is very attractive to many sailors and the yacht has a good price-performance ratio. This makes her one of the most interesting novelties in the model year 2016/17.”

Final Tests for the Dehler 34

Every development stage of a new yacht build is exciting. But it’s especially exciting when the yacht is taken to the water for the first time.

We take a look behind-the-scenes at the Dehler shipyard as the newest model undergoes extensive testing and finally hits the water. New Dehler yachts are designed on the computer and virtually tested. So it is a momentous occasion when they are physically tested on the water for the first time.

The conditions were perfect. Sunny with light winds. It was a historic moment as  Dehler’s Chief Developer, Kalle Dehler gave the command to lower her into the water.

Team Windcraft Review Dealer Meeting 2016

Team Windcraft’s Peter Hrones and Ric Hawkins sat on the Dehler 34 together for hours trying to find something to change… and there was nothing.

In Peter’s words:

“This is a very sweet boat – I can’t wait to get one. The boat on show here at the world dealer meeting is a two cabin version with the unique Dehler door system with a full separate shower.

“The cockpit works well with everything running aft with easy access whether sailing short handed or with a crew in a regatta. The interior saloon feels so spacious and can seat 6 in absolutely comfort and the aft cabin is so wide it could be considered as the main cabin.”
