The Dehler 46 was recently put to the test in Middle Harbour.

Club Marine Review

“Plenty of natural light illuminates the spacious saloon. The quality of the finish and inherent strength of the Dehler 46 is evident, even below deck in the main cabin”

“..if the word “hoisting” implies some physical exertion, there was none evident here”

Some of the words used to describe the Dehler 46 by Club Marine’s Crosbie Lorimer in his recent review.

Front Cover Dehler

The Dehler 46 looks absolutely stunning on the front cover of Boating New Zealand…

“Dehler has a respected reputation for building performance oriented yachts and its take-over by Hanse a few years back generated plenty of speculation.

Dehler’s DNA would inevitably come under the influence of Judel/Vroliijk, Hanse’s long-time design team. How would this affect the racing-oriented genes?

Favourably, I’m pleased to report.

Where relatively Spartan and functional interiors were once the flipside of Dehler’s speedster legacy, the new Hanse-engineered models have enjoyed a significant makeover. They present a well-balanced ratio: a happy solution to cruising comfort and swift performance…

The German-built brand has never looked better or sailed faster.

ST’s Dehler 46 verdict: Needless to say, I was impressed with the Dehler 46. As a performance cruiser, she ticks all the boxes. She’s good-looking, well-mannered, easy to handle and,  most importantly, blisteringly quick.

The standard of finish was very high and the interior was comfortable, roomy and well thought out, if a little stark for my taste. Three different keel depths plus two rig configurations and the option of a self-tacking jib mean this is a very versatile performer that would be as at home out on the racecourse as it would be on a lazy family cruise.
